Sherry Serafini

Unusual objects and shapes become part of a new story as Sherry stitches beads and gemstones, one at a time, to a felt like base. Most pieces are born spontaneously as the beads and Sherry’s imagination dictate the design. She seldom works from sketches. Sherry finds this meditative form of art to be a rich counterpoint to a society full of instant gratification. Some pieces take a year to complete.

Each piece is unique.

My simple intentions stem from my belief that “there can never be enough beauty in this world.

Sherry was raised in a military family, moving every few years. She credits that nomadic lifestyle with giving her an adventurous and uninhibited approach to her work.

Sherry was voted one of the top 10 instructors in the United States by Bead & Button magazine. She lectures and teaches throughout the world. She has been published and has written articles for several well-known magazines. Her work has been featured on the covers of trade magazines and catalogs and is the co-author of the Art of Bead Embroidery with artist & friend Heidi Kummli and Sensational Bead Embroidery by Sherry Serafini. Sherry’s beaded art is known internationally and has been worn by Grammy winner Melissa Etheridge, Steven Tyler of Aerosmith, Lenny Kravitz, pro golfer Michelle Wie and singer Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas.

Miriam Shimon

Miriam Shimon is an award winning Israeli bead work artist with a penchant for working with Soutache and floral bead weaving designs.

Born and raised in Denmark she now resides in Israel but travels around the world to teach jewelry making and soutache workshops.

She has been published and featured in several books and magazines, and won numerous international awards for her work.

Beki Haley

Beki Haley has been beading for over 40 years now. Introduced to the amazing artform of seed bead weaving by her Grandmother as a child, that early start in loving the intricacy and fine detail that can be attained with seed beads has stayed with her all throughout her life.

Even as a young teen, Beki loved to teach others all the beautiful things that can be created with beads, as such she has over 30 years of teaching experience in several different venues from large auditorium settings to intimate one-on-one classes and most everything in between.

Trained as a classic Silversmith at a young age has also given her an appreciate of the art and beauty of jewelry design, and using those formal skills allows her to share the technical aspects of jewelry design, as well as the importance of attention to detail and craftsmanship all while exploring your natural creativity.

The love of beads led her to open her own bead store, Out On A Whim, in 1986. “I could not be more thankful that I am able to be surrounded by beads in every aspect of my life. With my husband, four children, several animals and beads, there is not much more I could ever ask for.”

During any stressful time in her life she turns to her beads for comfort and calm. The meditative action of beading is the perfect tool to bring peace and joy to her otherwise busy and chaotic life. Being able to share that joy in the form of teaching others how to create with beads is a blessing beyond measure

Betty Stephan

Betty Stephan’s beading classes are focused on learning but at the same time are relaxed and a lot of fun! Her years of beading and teaching experience and the detailed, illustrated instructions provide the guidance needed to finish her beautiful class projects.

Betty has won numerous international awards for her bead embroidery and has been published in several books and publications. Her necklace “Cathedral Windows” is pictured on the cover of “500 Beaded Jewelry” and she was one of 30 featured artists in the book “Marcia DeCoster Presents”.

Her collars, “Barcelona” (2016) and “Carousel of Time” (2015) both won 3rd place in the Bead Dreams competition and her necklace, “Changes” won grand prize in Bead Star competition in 2014. She teaches internationally and exhibits at Fine Craft shows throughout the year.

When not teaching or designing jewelry in her western New York studio, Betty and her husband travel around the country in their RV–fully equipped to bead as she goes!

There will be 3 days of classes on the cruise, and each instructor will teach ONE class per day.

The Administrative Fee on board the Norwegian Getaway for the 2018 Bead-n-Cruise event including 3 classes (1 per day) is $250.

(Note: Price does NOT include the bead kits for each day)
